Atonement

January 30th, 2008

Last night my husband and I and our son went to the movies. I made the suggestion to go to”Atonement” since I heard great raves. Ten minutes into the movie, I leaned over to my husband and said “this is definitely a Rose and David movie”. Rose is my sister and David her husband. They have travelled the world and are both teachers and my sister an artist. They read all the time. They are very well versed and love intelligent movies. I on the other hand am a “27 Dresses”, “American Pie” type movie buff. If the movie critics give the movie a 4 star I know to stay away because I probably won’t get it. I love romance and romantic comedies. “The Notebook”, “You’ve got Mail”, “Sleepless in Seattle”. I can understand these movies. But after ten minutes I really got into the movie. “Atonement” is a beautiful but tragic love story. The cinematography was beautiful. The lighting is amazing. If you haven’t seen it yet, don’t wait for the DVD. This is one movie you want to see on the big screen.

A winter scene

January 28th, 2008

Do you remember that snow we had before Christmas? I woke up and looked out our back yard and I saw this amazing scene. I waited for the sun to peak just right before I took the shot. This image brings me great peace.

Home for the holidays

January 25th, 2008

I photographed Michael when he was a senior at MICDS. He was home this past holiday and his mom wanted a portrait in his uniform. He is attending the Naval Academy. I had so much fun with him. He is such a nice young man. We were done with the “formal” portraits and as he was leaving I saw this beautiful window light hitting him. I made him stop for more photos. These were my favorites from his session.

The Graham Bensinger Show

January 11th, 2008

Four years ago there was this adorable young man from MICDS that came to our studio asking Paul, (my son who ran Nordmann Sports), to advertise on his radio show. I believe it was called The Graham Bensinger Show. At that time I told my son Paul, “That kid Graham is really going to be something someday.” I then did his senior photo. At the session I told Graham, “It is going to be great when you become famous that I had the honor of photographing your senior session.” With his adorable smile he just chuckled. Fast foward to today. He is the hottest young star on ESPN and has a nation wide radio show. You have got to check out his web site-thegbshow.com You can literally spend hours on it. It has every sports story imaginable. He has been on the Jay Leno show and Conan O’Brian. His interviews are very fresh and honest. And through all of this he is still a very nice young man. Again, I had the honor of photographing him for his web site. I will say, I love his images.
