Senior Season Coming to an End
December 17th, 2009Our Class of 2010 senior season is coming to an end for a little while and I am sure we will be gearing up again in the spring. I had great senior sessions this year. I wanted to share just a few recent ones.

Our SPA Model Winner
October 31st, 2009Tiffany Lakamp from Triad High School was our entry into the SPARTISTS (senior photographer artists) national model search. The final 15 winners will receive an all expense paid trip to San Diego this January to model for hundreds of high school senior photographers. They will also participate in the best fashion runway show ever. Tiffany was one of my Class of 2010 models and did a terrific job. She was so easy to photograph and in my heart of hearts could definitely be a professional model. Congratulations Tiffany!

Latest and Greatest
October 9th, 2009The senior season is slowly coming to an end. I am sad that we are slowing down with the Class of 2010 photography but yet looking forward to my Class of 2011 models. These are some of our latest seniors.

Our latest seniors
September 1st, 2009Now that the seniors are back in school, we have finally slowed down a bit. It was a whirlwind summer with some great seniors.
Here are our latest of Claire from Ursuline Academy, Medora from Webster Groves High School, and Sarah from Whitfield School.

Some great seniors!
August 25th, 2009I have had so much fun this summer photographing seniors. I had so many great seniors this summer. I wanted to share 2 seniors that chose our garden session and garden/studio session.
This is Blake from Ursuline Academy.

And Michelle from Notre Dame did a Garden/Studio session.

Summer Fun
August 11th, 2009I have been so busy this summer but have been having a blast photographing so many seniors. I love these of Heather from Cor Jesu. Heather chose the Bluffs session. And then we finished her shoot at the Old Gravois Bridge.

Back to School Special
August 2nd, 2009I can’t believe August is already here. We have a few spots open for August and they are filling quickly. I have had so much fun this summer photographing seniors from such a variety of schools. We have had seniors from MICDS, John Burroughs, Whitfield, Webster Groves, Ursuline Academy, Parkway Central, Kirkwood, St. Joe’s, SLUH, Lafayette, Affton, Cor Jesu, Notre Dame, O’Fallon Township, Westminster, Freeburg Community, Triad, and Columbia Hickman. This is our last special of the year. It is a great savings for sessions in our beautiful studio garden.

Good and Bad senior photos
July 3rd, 2009I had the opportunity in May to talk with the Class of 2010 on good and bad senior photography. With everyone owning a camera and a computer, photography is probably the quickest growing business in the nation. But too many new photographers have no knowledge of what tools to use to make a great photo. Great photography is about posing and lighting. The light needs to be manipulated to create a dynamic photo. And not all images can be made great through photoshop. Don’t get me wrong – we use photoshop all the time to help create a great image. But it all begins with the light and the camera and the person behind the camera.
The first image we have is of Jackie. We took her down to Forest Park and were in extreme sun. So we had to shade her. But the lighting is very flat in this image.

So we manipulated the light with a gobo and side lighting and got this beautiful image.

Becca is a gorgeous girl. The first image is in natural light. How many photographers do you know that profess to be a natural light photographer. This is Becca in natural light. You can tell how unflattering the light is on her.

But look at how beautiful she is with the manipulation of light.

And the next thing I have a beef with is why do photographer put seniors up against a tree? What is up with that? I believe it was the rage in the 80′s and early 90′s but this is 2010. No more trees please! So a few of our models posed in front of a tree to show how boring these photos can be. First we have Tyler, also from Whitfield, posing against a tree.

But the next image is also in front of a tree but look how dynamic this image is.

Alex was also a good sport with a tree.

And look what a better photo it is against a better background.

So I think you get the point of what I am trying to say. We take pride in our posing and lighting and make every senior look their best through great posing and lighting. And a little help with photoshop.
